What is Downtown Asset Management?
Downtown Asset management is an economic development program used in the economic revitalization and preservation of downtowns.
In essence, the program builds financial independence among the various downtown commercial businesses while providing
purchasing and social value to the town's residency. Downtown Asset Management is a one-on-one personal consulting and
mentoring strategy directed to all downtown stakeholders having an investment or claiming entitlement to the downtown's assets.
How did this program evolve?
The program was conceived in 2001 by the Economic Development Board of the City of Benicia, California as a result of work
started by Stan Houston under a consulting agreement with the City's Main Street Program.
What can you expect as deliverables?
The program anticipates the following deliverables:
increased foot traffic,
steady retail sales/sales tax revenue growth,
gradual upward ground floor lease rates,
property owner building improvements,
tenant improvements,
increased demand for retail and other commercial space.
